The lens contains three SLD elements and four aspherical elements to reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations, as well as color differences, distortions and other abnormalities for greater clarity and sharpness. A Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been used to suppress lens flare and ghosting for accurate color fastness and high contrast. In addition to image processing capabilities, the lens has a Hyper Sonic Engine to produce fast, smooth and quiet auto focus performance with full-time manual focus override.
